As the legislative branch of the Town of Altamont government, the Council holds open public meetings where local laws, policies, and basic decisions for the city are discussed and decided. Council members are elected at large.

Notice for all public meetings, along with agendas, are posted in advance of the meeting. Minutes are posted after meetings have concluded (when available).

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Altamont Town Council will hold a public hearing during the regular town meeting on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 7:00 PM.

The meeting and hearing will take place at the Altamont Town Office Building, located at 15588 W 4000 N, Altamont, UT 84001

Agenda & Purpose

The purpose of this hearing is to receive public comment, input, and testimony regarding proposed amendments to the municipal sewer utility rates. The Town Council will review, consider, and potentially take action on the following items:

• Sewer Rate Adjustment (Single-Family): Consideration of increasing the monthly sewer service fee for single-family households from $23.00 to $25.00.
• Rate Establishment (Multi-Family & Master-Metered Properties): Consideration and formal adoption of a designated rate structure, billing capacity rules, and pricing model for multi-family residential dwellings, master-metered properties, and mobile home parks (including duplexes, apartments, townhomes, and manufactured housing communities).

Public Participation and Comments

All interested residents, property owners, and affected parties are encouraged to attend and participate.

How to submit feedback:

• In-Person: Public comment will be formally accepted during the designated portion of the public hearing.
• In Writing: Written comments may be submitted to the Town Clerk via mail or in person at the Town Office. All written submissions must be received by 4:00 PM on July 8, 2026, to be entered into the meeting record.

Accessibility and Information

Individuals needing special accommodations (including auxiliary communicative aids and services) during this meeting should notify the Town Office at least 48 to 72 hours prior to the hearing.

Relevant documentation and details regarding the proposed fee schedule changes are available for public inspection at the Town Office during regular business hours.

TOWN OF ALTAMONT PUBLIC NOTICE

NOTICE OF EMERGENCY TOWN COUNCIL MEETING & PROPOSED FIREWORKS BAN

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Council of Altamont will hold an Emergency Town Council Meeting to discuss and vote on critical fire safety measures ahead of the upcoming holidays.

• When: Thursday, June 25, 2026
• Time: 7:00 PM
• Where: Altamont Administration building 15588 W 4000 N

Purpose of the Meeting: The Council will consider Resolution 2026-05, which proposes a complete ban on fireworks and other ignition sources within town limits.

Due to extremely dry environmental conditions, Altamont Fire Chief B. Jared Thacker has issued a formal declaration stating that no safe locations currently exist within town boundaries for the discharge of fireworks. If passed, this ban will take effect immediately.

The public is invited to attend.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Altamont Town Council will conduct a formal Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 7:00 P.M. The hearing will be held in conjunction with the regularly scheduled Town Council meeting at the Altamont Town Administrative Office Building, located at 15588 W 4000 N, Altamont, UT 84001.

Purpose of the Public Hearing

The purpose of this public hearing is to receive public comment, input, and testimony regarding the following municipal items:

• Proposed Town Council Compensation Increase: Consideration of a proposed compensation increase of $50.00 per month for each member of the Altamont Town Council.
• Amendments to the FY 2025–2026 Municipal Budget: Review and consideration of proposed adjustments and amendments to close out the current fiscal year budget.
• Adoption of the FY 2026–2027 Municipal Budget: Presentation, review, and formal adoption of the final proposed operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

Public Participation and Comments

All interested citizens, property owners, and stakeholders are invited to attend and will be given the opportunity to provide oral or written comments regarding these matters.

• In-Person Comments: Citizens wishing to speak will be heard during the designated public comment portion of each agenda item.
• Written Comments: Written comments may be submitted in advance to the Town Clerk via email at [email protected] or delivered to the Town Office no later than 4:00 P.M. on the day of the hearing.

TOWN OF ALTAMONT: AMENDMENT TO MUNICIPAL FEE SCHEDULE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Altamont Town Council will conduct a Public Hearing on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Altamont Town Office.

The purpose of this hearing is to receive public comment regarding proposed amendments to the Town’s Consolidated Fee Schedule, specifically concerning Infrastructure Protection Bonds.

Summary of Proposed Changes:

The Council is proposing an increase to the Road Crossing  to a standard rate of $2,500.00 per encroachment or permit, and to create a Sidewalk Crossing fee of$2500.00 per encroachment or permit.

Legislative Intent:

• Performance Assurance: These funds serve as a performance bond to ensure that any excavation, cutting, or impact to town-owned roads and sidewalks is restored to municipal engineering standards (including specific soil compaction and materials such as Montre base course).
• Fiscal Responsibility: By requiring a higher bond, the Town ensures that the cost of potential infrastructure failure is borne by the contractor or property owner rather than the general taxpayer.
• Refundability: Upon successful inspection and certification by the Town (or its designated inspector) that the infrastructure has been restored to standard, the bond amount is eligible for release back to the permit holder.

Public Participation:

All interested residents and stakeholders are invited to attend and provide oral or written testimony. Written comments may be submitted to the Town Clerk at the Town Office prior to 4:00 p.m. on April 14, 2026.
