2025 NOTICE OF ELECTION CANDIDATE FILING

In accordance with UCA § 20A-9-203, notice is hereby given of the following names of candidates as they will appear on the 2025 Municipal Election ballot:

I, Amanda Gardner, Town Clerk for the Town of Altamont, do hereby certify that the following individuals have met the qualifications to be candidates in the municipal General Elections to be held on November 4, 2025

Candidates for 4-Year Term – Mayor (one open)

Philip Scott Allen

Candidates for 4-Year Term – Council member (two open)

Michael Howard Foy

James Edward Helms

Candidates for 2-Year Term – Council member (one open)

Christopher David Baca

Russell Roy Sorensen 

WRITE-IN CANDIDATES –

A person may file to be a write-in (forms are at the Town office) anytime from the beginning of the filing period until 65 days before the general election.

     *In 2025, the deadline to file as a write-in candidate    

                August 29, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.

     *Write-in candidates only appear in the general election.

The filing office is required to affirmatively tell the candidate that their name will NOT appear on the ballot.  Instead, a line will be provided on the ballot for voters to write-in the candidate’s name.

Only votes for write-in candidates who have declared their write-in candidacy will be counted.

  • Mayor – to be elected at-large to serve a four-year term.
  • Town Council Members – to be elected:

o One-Two-year term (to fill a mid-term vacancy)

o Two – four-year term

Candidate qualifications are as follows:

  • Eligibility requires being a registered voter in the Town of Altamont.
  • Residency in the Town of Altamont for a continuous period of 12 months prior to the

election date is necessary.

  • Individuals must not have any felony convictions, nor should they have been convicted

of treason or any election-related crimes.

  • A declaration of mental incompetence must not be in place.
